The Benefits of a Timber Floor
According to some of the latest industry estimates, the global wooden flooring market is expected to enjoy healthy growth over the next few years, perhaps being worth over US$37 billion by the end of 2025. This will hardly come as a surprise to many flooring retailers who know just how popular wooden floors have become in Australia in recent years. They have eaten into the laminate flooring market and are even starting to become more popular than carpets in certain quarters. If you are considering installing timber flooring in your home, then what are some of the upsides you can expect?
Easy Cleaning
Compared to carpets, which trap dirt and grime in their fibres, wooden flooring is very easy to keep looking clean. You just need to brush it over gently or run your vacuum cleaner over it once to have it looking sparkling. With tiled floors, dirt tends to get lodged in the grout where there is a little recess that makes it hard to get out. That's why wooden floors are especially popular in kitchens and bathrooms nowadays.
Longer Lasting
Even the best quality carpets have a limited lifespan. If you have them fitted in an area with heavy foot traffic — such as at your front door, for example — then the fibres can begin to wear down even after a few years of use. Equally, carpets tend to get stained if things are dropped on them that leave a mark. This is not the case with high-quality wooden floors which are much more resistant to wear. You can get out red wine or coffee stains much more easily, too, especially if you act fast when they happen. As such, the greater cost of installing wooden flooring is commonly earned back by the fact that they will last for a much longer period.
Great With Underfloor Heating
If you have underfloor heating installed — or are planning to do so — then there are few better choices you could make for your home than wooden floors. Wooden flooring already feels warmer underfoot than tiles or laminates but when you also get the sensation of centrally heated underfloor components sparking into life, it is even better. Wood works perfectly because you don't get any undesirable hot spots either, just even warmth throughout your entire home.
The Natural Look
Although it sometimes goes without saying, wooden floors look good because they have a natural appeal. The grains and knots you obtain with them are unique which means no one will ever have exactly the same type of floor as you. So, if you want something that looks natural and is a one-of-a-kind, then there is no better option.
